THE BREAKDOWN

Our Services

Step One

Consultation

Your journey begins with an in‑studio consult, where you’ll learn exactly what makes micro-interlocks unique—and why they’re right for you. We’ll even get hands‑on to test your pattern and feel the magic.

Our consultation process ensures that your micro-interlocks journey is personalized to your unique style and needs, laying the foundation for an exciting experience tailored just for you.

Step Two

Establishment

Once we’ve aligned on patterns and sizes, we’ll begin the installation phase. This can be a 10 to 20+ hour experience. Your freedom starts here.”

This step is about laying the groundwork for a successful loc journey. Our expertise will ensure that each step taken is purposeful and aligned with your lifestyle.

Step Three

Retightenings

Retightening is the maintenance step where new hair growth is tightened at the roots to keep the micro-interlocks neat and secure. This is typically done every 4–8 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. Regular retightenings helps maintain the parts, prevents matting, and supports overall healthy loc development.

Step Three

Retightenings

Around every 4 to 6 weeks (depending on your new growth) we’ll refresh your locs to keep them uniform and strong. Retightening sessions maintain definition and minimize breakage.

By prioritizing self-care through regular retightenings, you ensure that your loc journey will be successful.

General FAQ for Beginners

Q: What are Micro-Interlocks?

A: Micro Interlocks are tiny style-able locks. They allow women (and men) with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of styles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any products or heat..

Q: Can I get Micro-Interlocks if I have relaxed hair?

A: Yes, however, relaxed hair is straight and may slip out of the interlock more easily. The locking process may take longer on relaxed hair and require more maintenance. We recommend trimming the relaxed ends for the best experience.

Q: Do I need to have 'fine' hair for Micro-Interlocks to work?

A: Not at all! In fact, the tighter the texture the better! Your natural texture will determine the final look.

Q: Does this mean that once I get Micro-Interlocks I can still change hairstyles?

A: Yes! Micro-Interlocks give you limitless styling options because it is your natural hair. You can curl it, braid it, twist it, roller set it, wear it in a ponytail, cut it...you name it!.

Q: Can Micro-Interlocks be taken out?

A: Technically, yes, though the procedure is so tedious, you will not want to get Micro-Interlocks with that intention. Besides, once you discover the range of freedom with Micro-interlocks, you won't want to go back!

Q: How long does it take to do Micro-Interlocks ?

A: The initial locking process takes about 10 to 20 hrs or more. The beauty of Micro-Interlocks is that retightening them as your hair grows out is extremely simple, easy and reduces your cost over time.

Q: Can I do the locs myself?

A: Once your Micro-interlocks are well established you can take a class to learn how to maintain your own hair. This can be great for when you travel, when you have to miss an appointment, or if you just want to save money on long-term maintenance. We strongly recommend that you check in with your loctician periodically to keep your Micro-Interlocks looking beautiful!

Q: Will Micro-Interlocks cause my hair to break or thin?

A: Just the opposite! Micro-Interlocks uses a gentle technique that requires no chemicals, no excessive tightening, and causes no damaging abrasion to the hair or scalp. You will find that with regular care, your locks will grow, and your styling options will increase.

The Micro Interlocks Package

First Visit: Hair Preperation

Preparing your hair properly is essential for a smooth and successful installation; prior to your appointment, your Loctician will thoroughly cleanse your hair to remove all product buildup, oils, and residue, and section it to create a clean foundation—please arrive with your hair in its natural, loose state (no braids, twists, or added hair) and avoid applying any oils, creams, or heavy conditioners beforehand.

Second Visit: The Locking Session (May be divided up to manage client's sitting time.)

Bring a good book because the locking process can take from 10-20 hours or even longer in some cases. The average Micro Interlocks client will leave this session with an average of 300+ locks and a whole new attitude! Your Loctician will provide you with instructions that includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands and tips on grooming and shampooing as your locks settle in. Be sure to schedule your follow-up visit before you leave. Good maintenance is the key to beautiful Micro Interlocks over time.

Third Visit: Follow-up

This visit should be scheduled within 3-4 weeks from the date of your Locking Session. Your Loctician will monitor the integrity of your locks, retighten them and give you an idea of how long the locking process is likely to take. You can also begin exploring styling options for the look that's right for you!

Ongoing Follow-up Visits

We recommend that you schedule your first few re-tightening visits at 4-6 week intervals. This way the progress of your locks can be easily monitored. As your locks mature, your Loctician will be able to determine how often you will need to come in for re-tightening on a regular basis. The average time between visits depends on the hair type and rate of growth.
